Introduction to Swarm Thinkers
Swarm Thinkers is an organization dedicated to applying and promoting swarm solutions to complex challenges facing mankind.
What are “complex challenges”?
Complex challenges often involve dealing with multiple interdependent agents and massive interactive systems, making them difficult to solve. Extreme weather mitigation, environment restoration, pandemic response, antibiotic control……The complex challenges often turn out to pose some of the most imminent existential threats to mankind. To tackle these existential threats and develop a response to a potential catastrophe, we need structural intelligence and rapid coordination. Most importantly, we cannot limit our scale of action to individuals.
What is swarm thinking?
Complex challenges aren’t meant to be solved instantly or by individuals alone. What is needed is a totally different approach-swarm thinking. Swarm thinking focuses on the realization of long-term and large-scale coordination-in short, mastering the power of swarms.
One robot, however powerful, cannot reverse the wildfires, the storms and the systematic destruction brought by climate change. But swarms of even the most simple robots-algae, can form an entire ecosystem over millions of years, inventing the concept that transformed our planet-biological evolution.
Who are we?
Swarm Thinkers is an organization composed of high schoolers with engineering excellence and social awareness across the globe.
What do we aim to achieve?
Through designing swarm solutions, swarm algorithms and swarm robots which can assist the execution of complicated tasks, we tackle the hardest questions posed to mankind. Currently, we are focusing on utilizing robotic engineering methods to achieve environment restoration and natural disaster mitigation.
Our team
There are two sub-divisions of Swarm Thinkers:
1. The Environment crew
The environment crew actively engages in global discussion on complex challenges. They promote cooperation between the Thinkers and local governments and plan for environmental restoration projects.
2. The R&D crew
The R&D crew is made up of talented engineers, dedicated to the invention of the strongest, smartest and most capable robots and algorithms applied to environmental engineering.
